Senior Living Houston: Spotlight on Dining Supervisor Kelley Hough
A key reason seniors choose retirement living is a desire to have the option of three meals a day, seven days a week, to help residents stay healthy and also provide more social opportunities. The dining room staff play a key role in the dining experience — and Dining Supervisor Kelley Hough is a key team member that makes sure residents have a pleasant dining experience. Kelley’s daily responsibilities are to oversee employees in their daily routine serving residents, clients, family members and staff. Kelley also serves residents in the dining room and oversees the catering of Treemont events, parties and small family gatherings.
Kelley joined the Treemont Team about a year ago. “What attracted me was I have a passion and love to help people, especially elderly people who really need the assistance. I love working with seniors as I learn from them in wisdom and knowledge. They have wonderful and excellent stories they share daily. They love for me to pray for them from time me to time,” says Kelley.
Kelley was raised on the North east side of town in the 5th ward, where he attended Kashmere High School then took some college courses at Texas Southern University. He also attended advance legal studies for Criminal Justice. His previous employment was as a lead supervisor for Aramark Entertainment for 3 years and with Home Healthcare for 2 years. Kelley is a single man with 2 daughters and 2 sons: Jacoby, Shara, Cameron and Jada. His mother is deceased and his dad is a chief engineer at Lyondell Citgo in Pasadena.
Kelley’s mission is to make sure people are taken care of in the most comfortable and loving way. “It’s not about the food it’s about presenting a genuine love to the people. If I have not accomplished ultimate love for the people then I have not fulfilled my purpose,” says Kelley. “I love interacting with every elderly person in the dining room but there are several who look for me daily and Mrs. Margaret is the one who told me that when I’m not there on my days off it saddens her not to see me, but when I return to work it brings joy to her face. I love to be attentive personally to everyone with whom I come in contact with.
A new dining room initiative in 2018 of independent living Houston Food Service Director James Renshaw is to permit residents to evaluate new menu options that can be tried for the next quarter’s menu. Kelley and other assisted living Houston dining staff will be involved in this initiative. Stay tuned!
We are delighted to have Kelley Hough as a dedicated member of this senior living Houston team to make the dining experience the best it can be for our residents.
