Senior Living Houston: Spotlight on Food Server Deborah Hughes
Treemont provides three meals daily, seven days a week, which is atypical for most independent living communities. Residents benefit from staying well-nourished, having built-in social opportunities as well as minimizing grocery shopping, cooking and cleaning. That being said, the service in the dining room is an important contributor to resident happiness, particularly for those who tend to eat most meals in the Treemont Dining Room.
The dining room team members play a key role in the dining experience — and Food Service Server Deborah Hughes is a new team member that epitomizes the type of food service employee Treemont desires. “Deborah is the most positive individual we have on our team! When asked how she is doing,, Deborah responds “fan flipping tastic!” It’s really amazing. And that’s the reason I chose Deborah to “spotlight,” says Food Manager James Renshaw. “Residents consistently compliment her on her attitude and attention to detail. Deborah started working with us about 3 weeks ago.”
Deborah says her first priority is to be prompt for work. “I aim to have a friendly, positive attitude in order to comply with my expected written duties and activities that are expected from my supervisors. Residents expect friendly staff, after all, they’re the reason we’re here!”
Deborah, an only child was born in Galveston. She has a background as a medical assistant, a nursing assistant, a cosmetologist, a caregiver, a CNA at a doctors medical clinic “I enjoyed my early history assisting with the elderly, making them smile, interacting with them on daily activities,” says Deborah.
Deborah has two sons. Joshua just obtained his Doctorate degree from Prairie View A&M University and her youngest Dante is in high school. In her free time, Deborah enjoys singing, roller skating and crocheting.
Treemont is delighted to have such a positive energy employee as Deborah working in the independent living Houston dining room. We know the service is equally important as the food in creating a positive dining experience for our residents. Please join us in welcoming Deborah to our senior living Houston community. In addition, please stay tuned as Chef James introduces new menu selections in July and we seek resident input on the options.
