Treemont’s Long-Tenured Staff of 30+ Years Contributes to Resident Satisfaction
Retirement community residents become “family,” fostering new friendships and relationships as they transition to a mutually supportive lifestyle. Part of the glue that cements this feeling of fellowship and well-being is the staff at a senior living community in Houston, TX. At Treemont about 40% of employees have worked for 10 years or more. A number have worked here for more than 30 years. Long-tenured employees help residents achieve a pleasant lifestyle and a high level of satisfaction.
Long-tenured Treemont employees (left to right) Don Ibanez, Director of Maintenance, Health Center CNA Toni Barnum, Gardencio Reynoso, Director of Housekeeping, Cook BJ Brousseau and Ann Hiines (Doretha Allen and Maria Rodriguez missing) from the dining staff. Center is Activities Director Aimee Dubuisson.
Don Ibanez, Director of Maintenance, (far right below) lends a steady hand, tending to both building upkeep and individual resident apartment needs. It is a pleasure to hear residents say, “If I have to change a light bulb, all I have to do is call the front desk, and they’ll come right away.” Don leads a team that shares his commitment to helping residents keep their senior apartments in tip top shape.
Gaudencio Reynoso (in middle) has also served over 30 years as Director of Housekeeping. Residents are comforted by his presence and his role extends beyond traditional maintenance duties. He has set high standards for his team in terms of expectation for cleanliness, care and sensitivity to resident’s personal needs.
Ann Hines has been the mainstay of the Treemont Dining Room staff for 37 years. She is also the “keeper of the cookies” nourishing prospective residents and guests as well as current residents. She always has a huge smile on her face which is contagious. BJ (Barbara) Brousseau has been Treemont’s cook for over two decades, making sure the food is ready and flowing for meals and special events, always with a cheerful smile on her face and joyful wit. If permitted BJ would sleep in the kitchen to satisfy our resident’s late night cravings. Maria Rodriguez has a 33 year career of service in the Dining Room. She most enjoys making various salads for our residents and the opportunity to serve them daily. Doretha Allen (featured above left with Executive Director Rodney Brooks) has devoted 32 years to the dining room needs of Treemont residents, making them feel loved and respected.
On the Health Care Center/Nursing side, Toni Barnum has been an assisted living CNA for 32 years, serving residents with quiet competence and with a love for residents evident in all she does. Many of these assisted living Houston staff members have served multiple generations of Houstonians. We are blessed to have them as the core of the group who tend to Treemont resident needs. For them making the latter part of a senior’s life more peaceful and fulfilling is more than just a career; it is a calling.
Activities Director Aimee Dubuisson has this to say: “What I find so wonderful about Treemont is that every morning when I walk in its like opening a history book and watching the pages come to life. The people here are fascinating. We have war heroes; we have a Hall of Fame baseball player. We have musicians and models, teachers and technical experts, native Houstonians and people from several foreign countries. They have not only lived history but they’ve made history. Being able to serve them at this stage of their lives is just a real privilege for me. Treemont is where love lives. People walk in and they feel it. You can’t orchestrate this, you can’t legislate it…it’s genuine.”
We hope you will plan a visit to visit this warm, loving community that residents lovingly call “home!” Treemont is located at 2501 Westerland Drive at Westheimer near the Galleria. Call Lupe or Linda to schedule lunch and a tour at 713-783-6820. Click www.Treemont.com to learn more.
