Senior Living Houston: Activity Director Rose Marie Lau
Social interaction, activities, companionship, new friends, and safety are key parts of community engagement. Seniors choose to join the Treemont family for those very reasons. Monica Muniz moved to Corpus Christi to start her dream of owning a food business. Thus, we are now welcoming Activity Director Rose Marie Lau to our Treemont family.
Rose says, “I know the importance of stimulating and engaging residents to partake in activities such as exercise, outings, socials, and more which are beneficial to the well-being of our residents. I like to be the “helping hand.” In her new role, Rose will implement new and existing activities to maintain a diverse range of programming.
Treemont Management believes that a top-quality Activity Program is essential to attracting new residents and keeping our current ones happy and engaged. We believe that social interaction is a key component of a long, healthy life. At a retirement community, you have new friends all around. You have people to share meals with and a full calendar of activities to help you stay active and involved. Studies have shown that seniors who socialize and stay active among their peers are happier and maintain a better quality of life.
Rose is a 2018 graduate at The University of Southern Mississippi holding a BFA in Drawing and Painting and a minor in Art History. She also had an opportunity to study watercolors in Rome, Italy. Rose’s previous role was as an Educational Events Assistant at the Children’s Museum of Houston providing arts and event programming for families across the country. Rose states, “I have always enjoyed people of all ages and creating fun and meaningful programming provides me purpose and fulfillment.”
Originally from Meridian, MS and an adoptee from China, she has embraced a wide range of cultures. Rose has family living in Hawaii, Washington, Mississippi, and Florida. She moved to Houston, January 2019 for a new position and new adventures. She also met her boyfriend, Mark, who is from the United Kingdom. Rose enjoys being a resident of Houston and all that it offers!
Rose will continue to reach out to all residents and learn the interests of everyone. “We are delighted to welcome Rose to our leadership team,” says Executive Director Rodney Brooks says. “Rose has already stepped in to provide key support at this time. I know you will all enjoy her engaging personality and ability to design programs that meet our residents’ diverse interests.” Please welcome Rose Lau to the Treemont team. She can be reached at Rose@Treemont.com
