Senior Living Houston: Welcome Cook Donna Alexander!
A key reason seniors choose retirement living is a desire to have the option of three meals a day, seven days a week, to help residents stay healthy and also provide more social opportunities. Since most Treemont residents, however, dine three times daily at our community, it is extra important that our Dining Staff make dining a pleasant and enjoyable experience. Naturally, food preparation is important. A key ingredient to a wonderful dining atmosphere is also the attitude of staff. Dining Service Manager Chef James Renshaw works to hire capable team members that are in tune with customer service. Most recently, Donna Ann Alexander was hired as our senior living Houston's newest Cook.
Says Chef James, “Donna has 14 years of experience in senior care, cooking, providing customer service so that she offers a valued perspective on what we do at Treemont. Donna is a quick learner and has gained the respect of fellow staff.”
She is working with James, Myra, BJ and the Team on rolling out the new menu items. “About 75-80% of the menu items are new, says Chef James. “We’ve kept the classic items such as lasagna, chicken fried steak, meat loaf, spaghetti and meat balls and crunchy beef tacos, while introducing a variety of new main items.” On the dessert side, we still have fruit cocktail, but have retained our panoply of cakes, pies and ice cream for all to enjoy. We hope you will continue to provide feedback to James, Myra and his team so they can best reflect our resident food preferences.
Previously, Donna had more “front” of the house experience, working for at The Forum at Memorial Woods for 14 years as part of the wait staff, preparing room trays, developing both cold and hot menus. Donna decided she was ready for a change and new experience and thus sought a new opportunity where she could help and care for senior residents.
“I love the way residents rely on me. On my off days when I was not at the forum, residents would ask where I was and tell me they didn’t get the same great service as when I was there,” says Donna.
Donna is a native Houstonian. She has two surviving brothers, 2 sisters, two children, a daughter (age 21) and a son (age 14). She has an associate degree in fashion merchandising.
We are delighted to have Donna Alexander as a dedicated member of the Treemont Dining Team to make the dining experience the best it can be for our residents.
