Spotlight on Houston Nursing Home CMA Roma Habtestsion

Treemont is a Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) which means our residents move into Independent Living, but have the option of additional care options on campus, including with Senior Allegiance Home Care. If you visit Treemont’s Health Care CenterRoma_nursing homes in houston cna_c (HCC) for a short-term Medicare Rehab visit or a long-term assisted or nursing stay, you’ll likely meet Certified Medication Aide Roma T. Habtestsion. Roma is one of our dedicated caregivers at HCC who passes medication to residents, following state rules and according to individual resident schedules.

Roma is from Eritrea, located in East Africa, by the Red Sea Coast. She moved to Houston via the Diversity Visa lottery, with her two boys and two girls, and parents who have since passed away. In Eritrea she earned her bachelor’s degree in accounting and went to the international Italian school in Eritrea. In the U.S. Roma has worked one year as a Certified Nursing Assistant and now 9 years as a CMA. In her free time, Roma enjoys travelling, cooking, spending quality time with her family and has recently taken up knitting.

Roma loves working with seniors. “I am a loving and nurturing person by nature. As the oldest child, my parents depended on me to take care of my younger brothers and sister. So that responsibility of providing love and support was instilled in me at an early age and later as an adult I helped take care of my mother when she became sick and needed support. I built a special bond and respect toward vulnerable individuals through that experience.” says Roma. “Most of our residents are really competitive when they play bingo, and some become invested to win the prize. I love when I see them really getting involved and interacting and it brings out their personalities.”

HCC Administrator Cynthia Lamison says of Roma, “Roma is loving and caring and is exactly what we look for when we hire a medication aide and other care staff. Our residents adore her!”

Roma says, “I love working with senior people and I feel that they are part of my family. Treemont is one of the highest rated nursing homes in Houston. I have the highest appreciation for the Treemont team because every time Houston faces a natural disaster they always stand-by to handle the situation. Even through the Covid19 crisis, our team was able to handle this challenge and protect residents and staff.”

Treemont Nursing, Rehab and Assisted Living is a key part of Treemont’s continuum of care campus. Residents often come to skilled nursing, rehab or assisted living following medical setbacks, such as a complicated infection, a fall resulting in a fracture, or a stroke, resulting in the need for retraining in daily living tasks The Nursing Team works closely with Executive Director Rodney Brooks on providing rehab to his independent living residents so they can return home.
