My Reflections on 14 Years at Treemont, a Senior Living Houston Community
By Nancy Aldredge  Treemont Resident

I moved to Treemont 14 years ago, when I was 80 years old. I’m now 94 and I have to say this was one of the best decisions of my life. I started my journey by talking with Resident Counselor Ann Lawler. I was fortunate to have had the financial wherewithal to be able to pick wherever I wanted to live. I chose Treemont over a nearby CCRC that had a six figure buy-in because that community was “beautiful” but Treemont felt like “home.”Nancy Aldredge_Treemont senior living houston resident

I’m a long-time bridge player and I have made some fabulous new friends playing bridge. We play bridge in the library in the afternoons and sometimes after dinner until 10pm once we get going. My friendship with other bridge players has been heartwarming. I feel like having contemporary friends is important!

I also enjoy going to the dining room 3 times most days and having family dining style meals with friends. I enjoy the people and camaraderie of my neighbors most of all. Treemont also has many dances and parties for just about every occasion. Our Activity Director Rose Lau makes a point to make each event special with decorations and themed food.

Now that I’m 94, I’m glad I have extra support that includes housekeeping and transportation to my doctor. Some of my neighbors use a visiting doctor that works closely with the Treemont community, but I’ve been happy to be taken by the Treemont driver to my doctor appointments. I like knowing that there is extra support of having Senior Allegiance, a home health company, on campus should I need some support.

Living at Treemont has been rejuvenating. It removed many of my daily responsibilities and small worries of maintaining a household. I can just relax and enjoy myself. It’s like an AARP cruise with meals and a calendar of so many enjoyable things to do.

It’s been a challenging year, but our Executive Director Rodney Brooks took great care of all of us and made sure we all stayed safe. I highly recommend you call Lupe or Linda and check out Treemont at 713.783.6820 or visit www.Treemont.com. You may also stop by 2501 Westerland Drive 77063 off Westheimer near Gessner. I’ve enjoyed my journey and think you might too!
