The Front Desk Receptionist is the first point of contact for new prospects and is also the key point of contact for assisted living in Houston residents seeking assistance in a variety of areas. Treemont is fortunate to have Mariana Castro as its main Receptionist. She had big shoes to fill two years ago after taking over for Linda Parra (who moved to introducing new residents to Treemont) and has blossomed in this role. In addition to greeting everyone with a smile and warm greeting, Mariana’s job responsibilities are many and varied. They include:
- answering the phone,
- taking housekeeping and maintenance work orders
- addressing concerns and complaints
- scheduling guest room stays
- scheduling back massage appointments
- scheduling transportation to doctor appointment visits with Mark & Tommy
- signing up residents for shopping trips including the weekly Thursday Lunch Bunch
- maintaining the resident electronic rolodex
Born in Matamoros, Tamaulipas, Mexico, Mariana’s parents moved to Texas from Mexico when Mariana was two months old in 1990. She is the eldest of eight children. From Texas the family moved to North Carolina in 1999, then Kentucky in 2002 and back to Texas in 2007 for Mariana’s senior year in high school. Mariana attended three different high schools, graduating from B.F. Terry High School in Rosenberg, TX in 2008. While Mariana’s parents decided to return to Kentucky, Mariana decided to remain in Houston.
Mariana had been working at Home Depot as a Customer Service associate since December 2013 and continues to work there part-time. Mariana learned about Treemont from her cousin who worked for Senior Allegiance and always spoke about how much she loved working with the residents. Her cousin told Mariana about the position and with no hesitation, Mariana applied. Mariana says, “I love listening to the stories the resident tell me. I love the history of it and its amazing some of the things they’ve told me.”
Mariana attributes her love for travel to her many moves while growing up. She has been to 24 states and plans to travel to the rest of the 26 states and maybe out of the country. She loves visiting new places and meeting new people.
We are delighted to have Mariana Castro, with her warm smile and caring nature, as residents’ first point of contact to get the services they desire.
