One key reason seniors choose retirement living is a desire to no longer have to worry about maintenance and upkeep of their home. Treemont is known for the care and attention to resident’s maintenance needs. A key person contributing to the success of this department is Assistant Maintenance Director Abelardo “Abel” Bravo.
Treemont residents have this to say about moving to a senior living community such as Treemont.
- No more upkeep of a large home!
- No more chores or housekeeping!
- No more maintenance!
Abel has worked at Treemont for 10 years. His duties include responding to work orders to fix resident apartment issues involving: plumbing, air conditioning, garbage disposal or TV issues. Sometimes he receives a request to hang a resident’s picture. All of these tasks are delivered by Abel with a warm smile and a desire to please the residents for whom he serves. Abel’s tasks also include making sure new apartments are made ready for move-in, which may involve sheet rock and other more complex tasks.
Abel previously worked with BFI, a waste management company as a trash collector. His desire to come to Treemont was to learn more about maintenance and how to improve his skills. He certainly has honed his skills under the tutelage of Maintenance Director Don Ibanez, our director for over 30 years!
Abel says: “Working with residents is a privilege I enjoy very much. It is a very friendly atmosphere. I enjoy hearing stories of residents’ past history. I would sit there for hours and listen if I could!”
Abel followed his family to Houston from Guerrero, Mexico. He considers himself fortunate to have his mother, as his father passed away 34 years ago in a tragic accident. Abel has 3 children, ages 13, 7 and 3 and is happily married to Anna Bravo. During his free time, Abel enjoys reading and listening to the radio. He also enjoys spending quality time with his family, taking the family on outings.
We are delighted to have Abel Bravo as a dedicated member of the Treemont team to view the maintenance benefits of assisted living in Houston.
