BSN. Karina plays a key role in ensuring that Treemont residents receive the necessary supportive care so they can live independently in their apartments. A small helping hand can make all the difference in a senior remaining active and healthy.
As Administrator/DON, Karina provides her expertise to residents on the following types of issues:
- Approval for Medicare Home Health Care services
- Oversight of Personal Assistance Services
- Coordinator with Families on Resident Care Plan
- Discharge Planning with Health Care Center to help residents return to their apartments
- Assessment of Prospective Residents for Eligibility
- Representation in Treemont Campus Educational events, health fairs and health screenings.
- Establishment of Doctor Visits to Treemont Resident Apartments
- One of Main Emergency Responders to Assist Independent Living Residents Needing Help
Are you aware that Medicare covers the cost of many of the services that allow you to remain active, especially if you have been hospitalized in the past year? Karina and her Senior Allegiance team will work with your doctor to help identify service needs that can be provided under the Medicare program, including physical, occupational or speech therapy as well as nursing care.
Karina joined Senior Allegiance as the Care Coordinator in 2010 after earning her Bachelors in Nursing from the University of St. Louis, MO on an academic scholarship, and looking to return to her hometown of Houston. Five years later Karina became Director of Nursing and has been Administrator since 2018.
Owner Tom Witt says, Karina has been a steady presence on the Treemont Campus for over 10 years. Working with Treemont’s Executive Directors, Karina has taken a key leadership role in Covid testing and vaccines to keep residents safe. Karina established in-home Treemont Doctor visits and new supportive programs such as Walk ‘n Roll. Overall, Karina has been an incredible resource to Treemont residents and a go to person for Treemont families.”
Karina is an incredibly hard working, loyal and good hearted nurse that always strives for perfection. As Administrator, Karina shares the same loving attitude to her work that she does with her family. Married to Chris Walker, with two wonderful daughters Olivia and Emma, Karina’s favorite hobby is vacationing with her family and simply relaxing together with them. She is also a very determined and athletic nurse as well, cycling at least twice a week. Karina and Chris will celebrate their 10 year anniversary this year with a trip to the Dominican Republic.
Karina impacts the lives of everyone she is around daily and is the best Administrator the Treemont Campus could ask for!
