I moved to Treemont Retirement Community in July 2016. I decided to move to Treemont after all the inconvenience involved when I needed transportation to shop for food and groceries and to see the doctor, since I don’t drive anymore. Also, there is the danger of getting sick and falling where there will be no one to help me. Getting transportation to shopping and to doctor appointments is a big problem; depending on where I need to go and what has to be done will easily cost $25 - $80 each time with hired transportation.
Treemont has 2 chauffeured Lincoln Town cars available to transport me to the doctor on Monday – Tuesday and Wednesday from 9am – 3pm (must make reservation) and must be within a 5 mile radius. After I am finished with my appointment, I simply call the driver and he returns to drive me back to Treemont. On Thursday and Friday, there’s only one driver available, so appointments are limited. Saturday and Sundays are their days off.
Treemont has a Pull-Cord Security System by my bedside and in the bathroom. When/if I experience an emergency, all I must do to summon security is pull the cord. There is someone on duty 24 hours, 7 days a week and they will respond to help me. There is also a placard I place on my doorknob (like the ones used in a hotel) every night at 9pm and remove every morning at 9am, this is the “9 O’clock Program”. If this placard is not put out or taken in by the 9 O’clock hour, security will check to see that everything is OK with me and there is no problem.
Treemont has a mini-bus that takes the residents to do their shopping on assigned days after lunch at 1pm -
Mondays -Kroger and CVS
Tuesday – Randalls and Walgreens
Friday – WalMart and Target
Treemont has celebrations for certain holidays and special occasions with a band, entertainment, dancing and serving of snacks and libations. Such events takes place in a very large, on-site auditorium which accommodates about 200+ guests. Each Friday and Saturday afternoon at 3:30 pm, Treemont also has live entertainment ranging from classical pianist, vocalist of various genres, artists who play various instruments, all of which are well attended.
Treemont has a very large dining room serving 3 meals a day, with two entrée options at each meal. Residents have a choice of being served at their table, or selecting their choice from the buffet. You may choose to eat at your table or to take your food back to your apartment. Should you need delivery, you can phone in your order for delivery to your apartment for which there will be a $2 charge. If one is sick, there is no charge.
Treemont has a variety of activities provided to keep you occupied and entertained throughout the week. Movies are shown 3 times a week, Bingo twice a week, Sing-a-Longs twice weekly and Choral Group once a week. Weekly trips are planned on Thursdays for “Lunch on the Town” on the Treemont Bus, with only a charge for your lunch at various local restaurants. Occasionally, day trips are planned to various nearby tourist locations on a County Bus. The only charge is for your food and if there is an entrance fee at the tourist location.
There is Catholic and non-denominational weekly church services on site, with 4 additional worship opportunities in the form of Bible Study weekly. There are two Libraries at Treemont, a Beauty Shop, Gift Shop (they carry necessities only) and Activity Room with exercise equipment. On the 3rd Wednesday of each month, there is a cooking demonstrationshowing residents how to prepare delicious microwave meals.
Weekly Housekeeping services are provided once a week at no charge. The Maintenance staff is superb. If you need a light bulb changed, all you need to do is call the Front Desk and that will be happily taken care of. All Bills are paid at Treemont, except your phone bill, cable (if you choose cable) and your newspaper (if you subscribe). There is individually controlled Air Conditioner/Heat in each apartment and courtesy Washers and Dryers (Laundry Rooms) on each floor in each building. All of the mentioned services are complementary and employees cannot accept tips. There is an “Employee Appreciation Fund” to which residents may donate before the Christmas Holidays for the 100 employees who serve the residents each day. If you have a car, you will be assigned a parking space with a monthly charge of $25 (Covered parking) and $15 (uncovered parking).
Treemont also has a Health Care Center that houses a Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center plus Assisted Living and Hospice Care. When residents are discharged from the hospitals and are not quite ready for independent living, they can recover at the Health Care Center until they are ready to come back to their apartment. The HCC is known for its outstanding rehab program that helps residents with a health setback recover so they can get strong enough to safely return to their independent apartment. There is also a Home Health Care service (Senior Allegiance) available within the Treemont Retirement (Independent) Living Community that charges according to the care you need provided. Such services include medication management, bathing and dressing or walking your dog. This service helps the independent resident remain independent as long as possible.
Treemont facility has 6 residential buildings, each with 3 stories. The resident can choose 1 or 2 bedroom units, elevators in each building with all access through indoor corridors so you never have to go outside in inclement weather. Rent is charged according to the size of your apartment unit. There are a few Guest Apartments where visiting family members can stay for $75/night.
