Residents Excited about Gardening Club at Houston Retirement Home

The buzz around this senior living Houston community is contagious. Spring has finally arrived and Treemont residents are outdoors enjoying the Gardening Angels Club. Treemont has built rolling planters so residents can stand or sit in chairs and do their gardening on this Houston retirement community's back patio. See photo below.

This is the first of three rolling planters that Maintenance Director Don Ibanez and his team will build for the independent living community residents. Learn how staff can contribute to resident satisfaction.

"The planters will beautify the campus and the residents are thrilled to have the opportunity to garden," says Executive Director Rodney Brooks. "We are grateful to Don and his team for making this happen!"

View the Houston Chronicle story "Communities kick off outdoor spring activities" that discusses what Houston assisted living communities and residents are doing to launch the Spring season.

"Our residents and staff enjoy being outside and working in the garden. We plant herbs and tomato plants to enjoy all season. There is nothing like getting outside, getting your hands dirty, working in the soil and being in the sun. It is therapeutic," said Aimee Dubuisson, activities director, Treemont Retirement Community.
