What is "Independence Plus" — how does it differ from Assisted Living?
Residents move to a senior independent living community with the desire to stay independent as long as possible. Thus, Treemont introduced the concept of “Independence Plus” on our campus, as an alternative to traditional assisted living in Houston, TX. Seniors who need help with activities of daily living can receive home health services in their retirement apartment instead of moving to a licensed assisted living facility. This permits our residents to maintain a more independent lifestyle, and keep a larger living unit, often at a lower cost than comparable assisted living facilities.
Senior Allegiance is the “Plus” in Independence Plus.”
Senior Allegiance is proud to announce its new leader, Administrator Malli Ford, RN! She is a talented, high-energy individual with significant experience in the health care and home health care arenas. We are delighted she will lead the Senior Allegiance team and lend her talents to the Treemont Retirement Community campus.
Malli brings a wealth of energy and enthusiasm to all that she touches. Most recently, Malli was the Executive Director/Administrator of Nurse on Call and previously for Texas Home Health, two Texas home health care entities. She was responsible for significant growth in both entities and for enhanced resident care.
Born in Texas, Malli grew up in Illinois on a farm with her great-grandparents before returning to Texas at age 10. Malli started her career in Business Management before returning to school for her nursing degree, during which time she worked as a CNA.
Malli is married to husband Colan and has three boys, Justin (21), Kyle (15) and Mason (12). In her spare time, Malli maintains a healthy lifestyle that includes working out at the gym 3 to 4 times weekly. She loves doing 5K fun runs with obstacle courses, such as the Neon Splash Dash or Mud Run’s. Malli loves to travel to tropical islands, loves cruises and life in general!
To implement “Independence Plus,” Treemont has a “Preferred Provider” agreement with Senior Allegiance, which is licensed to provide both skilled home health services under Medicare, and Personal Assistance services. Senior Allegiance has an office in Suite F-307 on the Treemont campus so that it is better able to meet the needs of our residents at a more affordable rate.
Many existing Treemont residents choose to add home health services as their needs increase. This provides support which helps them maintain their social connections in the community. Other residents choose to add home health services when they initially move to Treemont. For these residents, the services can ease their transition to a new living setting and help them get off to a good start. To receive a free home health assessment, please contact Assistant Director of Nurses Ana Vazquez or Director of Nurses Karina Walker at 713-975-1519.
Malli is most excited about getting started at the helm of Senior Allegiance and meeting all the fabulous Treemont senior living residents she’s been hearing about! Please call Malli at 713-975-1519 to ask questions or plan a visit!
