TREEMONT OFFERS NEW FEEL-GOOD CLASSES FOR SENIORS
By Lois McCall, Treemont resident
It is possible to be lonely and bored in later years, but not at Treemont Retirement Community unless you really work at it. Here, in addition to all the other fun things scheduled, are some new classes Activities Director Aimee Dubuisson is setting up for spring:
Rediscover the joy of life as we navigate through life’s transitions. Treemont offers weekly topics that inspire discussion. You’ll find you’re never too old to live your dreams and meet challenges and opportunities that lie ahead. This weekly, hour-long class, facilitated by resident Maggie Burch, includes breathing exercises and much more on what Browning called “the last of life, for which the first was made.” Join us Mondays at 10am in the Green Room.
Meet with us for a 45 minute session that includes the best deep breathing exercise, LAUGHTER. Developed by a physician, this program provides the healing benefits of laughter and YOGA. Don’t miss this exceptional opportunity to benefit physically, mentally, emotionally and improve your overall wellbeing. We meet each Thursday at 10:00 in the Green Room.
This new Tremont activity will meet every Wednesday morning at 10:30 in the Green Room. We’ll focus on helpful tips each week. Occasionally, health care professionals (Doctors, Nurses, Physical Therapists, Dieticians, etc.) will present helpful hints for our residents on a variety of topics focusing on Wellness and sometimes general topics.
All of the above activities are good medicine for seniors. They can increase oxygen to brain and body in a fun way. Studies have shown laughter helps to rejuvenate memory, improve overall health and the immune system and may even help reduce pain and depression. If you’d like to join one of our classes, please contact Aimee at 713-783-6820 or at Aimee@Treemont.com. We are located at 2501 Westerland Drive (at Westheimer near Gessner).
